How to run an MT5 expert advisor

Step-by-step MetaTrader 5 EA setup: broker account, MQL5 Market, a .set parameter file, and a VPS. For: sentinel-mt5.

  1. Open a broker account

    IC Markets

  2. Download MT5 and log in to a demo or live account.

  3. Buy the EA on MQL5 Market using the link from that EA’s page.

  4. Attach the EA to the chart (same symbol and timeframe as monitoring) and turn on Algo Trading.

  5. Load the .set — same inputs as monitoring — on the chart of the symbol(s) that EA trades (listed next to the timeframe on its page).

    In the EA settings window, open the Inputs tab → right-click → Load, then pick the downloaded .set.

  6. Keep the terminal running 24/7 — easiest on a VPS.

    Monitoring on this site runs on an RUVDS VPS in London.
    1. Follow the link below → open all plans / the full VPS catalog (not just a short landing preset).
    2. In the location filters, choose London.
    3. Pick a config that fits (one MT5 usually needs 2–4 vCPU and 4+ GB RAM; for several terminals, leave more headroom).
    4. After payment, set up a Windows VPS, MT5, and the EA; load the .set as above and keep the terminal running.
